This presentation begins with an overview of energy use in the industrial sector, and the potential for energy-efficiency. This is followed by a look at the activities of the Alliance to Save Energy (ASE), a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit organization (U.S. Department of Energy), which has several programs to help manufacturers become more energy-efficient, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which has resources tailored to the pharmaceutical industry. This presentation also looks at federal policy actions and pending legislation on energy and climate change, and concludes with information on how pharmaceutical companies can become active in energy and climate issues through ASE and other non-profits.
