Name: Operations Management: A Powerful System: How Can it Help You? ( WEBOPSMGT )
Description: What more could you and your company know and understand about effective operational management? The new ISPE Community of Practice (COP) has identified 10 critical areas of competence in which professionals and companies need to be proficient in order to effectively compete. In order to produce the most powerful effect, these should be considered as a whole system. This multidimensional system requires that competence should be shared among engineering, manufacturing, quality, planning and logistics functions and the professionals working in those fields in order to gain the most benefit for the company overall. Manufacturing must be in compliance with regulatory requirements (GMP). However, in addition to compliance and due in part to decreasing rate of innovation, increasing costs for R&D, and an increasing variety of customer preferences, operations needs tools and methods to improve performance and efficiency. It is essential to learn from other industry sectors, to improve technological and management aspects, from strategy to planning and shop floor execution. This webinar will provide you with the overview and network of competencies critical to an effective overall manufacturing operations plan to help you identify potential areas of improvement for your company and for your personal, professional practice. We will review all areas through the integrated process flow, from raw materials supply to final product distribution.
Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
  • List at least ten critical areas of operations management
  • Describe operations management as a strategic function
  • Identify areas in which your company may need more information and improvement
  • Identify areas in which you personally and professionally may need more information and competency
  • Understand the interrelationships among the 10 areas and how the complete process flow of materials through operations, from incoming materials to final products distribution, shall be improved and managed as a whole … the operations system
